Hellweg Maschinenbau is a producer of shredding and granulation machinery for the plastics industry. The main focus is in the area of plastics recycling and applications involving cutting mill granulators, as well as general shredding and granulation machines for plastics processing.
Hellweg granulators are generally used in the area of plastics granulation. Sprues, hollow containers, lumps, as well as sheets from the extrusion area can be processed with a Hellweg granulation line just as much as applications in the area of film granulation. The product programme includes laboratory granulators for CD and DVD optical data media sprue recycling, as well as machine-side granulators, crushers (shredders) and central granulators –made in Germany.
Hellweg likes to refer to its granulators as cutting mills, as they are equipped with the shear/slanted cut principle, so that they granulate the plastic involved really gently and therefore with low dust generation, and do not smash or shatter the plastic, as is usually the case with a “plastic disintegrator granulator” or so-called crusher.
Many recycling applications are equally well available in the area of extrusion. The Hellweg lump granulator is also capable of shredding and granulating large start-up lumps, also known as extrusion start up “cakes”, in a single stage process. What is meant here is so-called singe-stage granulation without first making use of a shredder. The extrusion product programme also includes edge strip granulators and feeding equipment for films, with which edge strips arising in production can be ground directly/online and thereafter immediately reintroduced into the extrusion process together with virgin material.
The punched strip granulator is equally a granulation mill that is used online for low-dust granulation of plastic punched strips in the area of film extrusion and thermoforming. The slanted cut also ensures high grade and sharp edged granulate or ground particles. High grade, dust-free and homogenous ground material is of utmost importance in order to be able to guarantee smooth further processing.
Hellweg plastics granulation machinery is suitable for granulation of all engineering plastics, as well as those of them that are reinforced by glass fibres. The slanted cut can grind soft materials such as TPU or TPE just as much as it can grind ABS or polycarbonate. The granulators are therefore used to the same extent in the areas of injection moulding and extrusion as they are used in blow moulding and thermoforming.
